Caffe Strada Specialty Coffees are carefully roasted and packaged in the heart of the Midwest. From our headquarters in Buffalo, Minnesota, we seek out only the finest, estate grown 100% Arabica coffee beans to use in our coffees. And unlike many of our larger competitors, our coffees are roasted to order, packaged and shipped the very same day.
All of our coffees are roasted under the watchful eyes of our president and roaster, Steven Olson. Steven was introduced to the art of coffee roasting in 1989, and studied for two years under the tutelage of a master coffee roaster in San Francisco, California. For the last 17 years he has been honing his craft and roasting some of the finest coffees in the Midwest. His coffee has been sold in such upscale retail locations as Neiman Marcus, Macy`s, Dayton`s, Byerly`s, Lunds and other upscale grocers in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
Steven roasts his coffee in small, old-fashioned Probat and Gothot roasting machines of 25 or 60 kilograms. Using the traditional, European method of roasting, Steven uses his eyes, ears and nose to monitor the beans throughout their 8 to 12 minute roasting cycle. When the beans have reached the precise roast he desires, they are emptied into stirring trays and rapidly cooled to avoid over-roasting them.
Custom Roasting’s commitment to quality demands that our coffees be absolutely fresh. As a result, Steven does not keep a large inventory of roasted coffee on hand. Rather, he roasts the coffee daily and packages it fresh. This ensures that the Caffe Strada gourmet coffees you receive are as fresh as possible. Steven roasts every ounce of Caffe Strada.
